The standard alignment chart

If you want to play DND, the first thing you will need to do is create a character, and the most importatnt part of that is deciding who this person is and what they stand for. Usually this is done through the alignment chart (right image), personality traits, ideals, bonds, and flaws. The alignment chart holds 5 things nuteral, chaotic, lawful, good, and evil. They all usually make sense when put togeather. Chaotic people tend to not think, evil people tend to hurt other people, and Lawful Evil refers to theives or people who have a moral code, but don't obey the law. A personality trait is some unique quirk like "I use a multitude of gigantigantic made up words to sound smart". An Ideal is something they belive in, like "I'm loyal to my friends, and only my friends." A bond is something that is important to them, like how their sword is a family heirloom. Lastly, a flaw is like a secret they have, or a bad personality trait like greed. Below is a compilation of these for all four of the premade characters that come with the Lost Mines of Phandelver to help inspire you.
